If the top end (cylinder, piston & rings) has never been replaced, then I think it's time.
Check the cylinder compression.
If you don't have a gauge -
Remove the exhaust pipe and look into the exhaust port with a flash light and mirror.
If the piston or cylinder wall is scored, or there's dis-coloration below the rings, the top end needs to be rebuilt.

You need three things...
Fuel, spark and compression.
Is the kx still 2 stroke (fuel/oil mix)?
Running it lean could mess with the rings...
Has the bike been sitting for a while, or are you in a cold climate? Add more air to the fuel air mix (choke it)
Does it have a stater or rectifier to test?

Make sure you are putting in a new plug...even though you have spark it can still be burnt out.
I had an Rz 350 that would also fry the one of the two plugs...

Clue us in on the model of bike, then we'll be able to make a more informed reply.

My wild guess is that you still have dirt in the carb - in one of the other jets.

Is the petcock turned on to let gas flow from the tank to the carb? Just wondering as I have seen this on a lot of machinery with a GRAVITY FED FUEL SYSTEM!!!
