i wake up at 8am and im usually ok for the day after i have a big cup of coffee. Then i get home around 3 and i feel so tired i want to take a nap, so i usually fall asleep for an hour or two. But then, when its time to go to bed, around 11pm or midnight, im not quite tired enough and cant fall asleep easily.

what can i do to feel more awake throughout the day? How can i regulate my sleep schedule?

Hello. The cup of coffee you have in the morning is not going to affect you at night, just as long as you are only having coffee in the morning and not in the middle of the day. I would say, when you get home, try a "power nap" of 10 - 30 minutes instead of an hour or more. The more sleep you get during your nap, the longer timespan your body will need before you get tired again. Power napping has actually been shown to improve brain function and work performance. 10-30 minutes is all you need. Also, be sure you are trying to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time EVERY day. You should also keep the same sleep schedule on the weekends. You can train your body to become awake and feel tired by keeping a regular schedule. The more irradic your sleep schedule, the harder the time you will have falling asleep.

Try skipping your nap and just going to bed. Since you're not getting enough sleep, you're probably sleep-deprived, which is causing you to be tired in the middle of the day. If you get enough sleep you might not feel the need for the nap. Also, try avoiding coffee, since it's a stimulant. It helps you feel more energetic at first but when it wears off later in the day you feel lower than you would.

When you get home from work, don't lay down. Start clothes and dishes and dust, what ever and you will be awake. Then cook and clean it up and continue to stay awake until bedtime and make it a bit earlier. Get up at regular time, and your body will adjust and not be sleepy during the day.====
