Almost 2 weeks ago I started having a cough...Its progressed since than into a really bad cough and sore throat. I've pretty much tried all of the over the counter meds as well as drank lots of tea, juice and water and taken vitamins. It still doesnt get better. Sometimes I cough so hard I have trouble breathing. Than today I started having a sharp pain on the left mid/upper side of my back. It hurts whenever I breathe and sometimes when I move. Is this serious enough to go see a doctor because I have no insurance and there are no free clinics where I live and my only choice is to go to the ER. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i am a nurse at the hospital. if you are taking your over the counter meds and drinking lots of fluids and you aren't starting to feel better you probably need prescription meds to get over the cold you have. the thing that bothers me is the chest pain you have when you breathe. that can mean something more serious. that is the part that bothers me. i would go to the doctor. if you look up in the phone book for an "urgent care clinc" then sometimes it is cheaper than going to the ER. if the pain doesn't go away then go in. the bugs we are seeing this year are pretty rough! they are making the kids pretty sick!

One main factor that you simply must do while every body round is in poor health, is to have a well immune process. Otherwise you'll maintain getting those colds etc week after week. Make definite you've a ample provide of nutrition C and deal with every case of the bloodless with ease or else you might come to be with a sinus contamination.

It sounds like you probably have a bacterial infection if you've been sick for that long and you haven't gotten better. Go to the doctor.
