Not unless they physically have access to your phone. If they see for example on the bill that you sent 1000 messages, they might get suspicious and check it. If you dont want them to see them you have 3 options:
1. Dont send messages you wouldnt want them to see
2. Delete them from the outbox as soon as you send them
3. Set your phone to not save outgoing messages.

Lets assume for a moment that they are trying to stop you from seeing an older person and they go to the police for help. With a court order they can get copies of those text messages to use against said older person.
Other than that, there is no way for them to see the text messages short of getting their hands on your phone.

Its true that they don't show up on the bill. But all they have to do is a request a print out from their cell phone company of all the text messages. It might be different for individual phone companies, but I know for sure that Verizon will do it.

No , text messages are a non tracable way of comunication.
The only way for them to get access is if it is plugged into a computer running a delving programme like the police use.

I don't think so...it might say to what number it was sent but it definitely doesn't display what the message said.

Yoiu have no business writing things of which your parents would not approve -- especially since they are paying your bill.

Unless they have access to their account online.
On your bill you don't see what texts you've sent/recieved... but online you can.
I do it all the time when my phone dies or I miss a text.
