...and all that mildew crap. I'm not lost in a forest. So, I don't want those complicated methods. I tried looking at my house on Google/Yahoo! maps, but none of them include the North symbol (what the heck?!). Please help me find the direction that my house is facing.

Thanks in advance!

The arrows on the side of the map that make it move up and down or left and right indicate the north and south or west and east directions respectively.

Looking at the sun is a great way to give you the basic directions if that is all you are needing. Otherwise, go outside one night when you have clear skies. Find a bright star and memorize where in the sky you see it. Then check again roughly 30 minutes later. Now look at where it is. Compare with where it was (wait an hour if you want a better comparison). Remember that the stars move in the same direction as the sun...East - West.

The reason Google and Yahoo don't include that North symbol is that they automatically orient their maps so that North is up...and you usually can't change that. Don't believe me...load it up and then keep zooming out until you see the whole United States. If you don't know which side of the United States is North...I'm not sure if we can help you.

Oh...you could also walk next door and ask your neighbor for help. Maybe they know.

the previous poster is correct..... the 'pan' arrows at the top left of the map are directional.... move it to the right, it's EAST, move the one on the left, it's WEST, likewise North and South for the up and down arrows.... the map , as it sits, is set up with North at the top.....
