yes of coarse why not? It seriously upsets me that people feel that it's a problem. If my parents wouldn't let me date somebody because of that I would probably speak out at school and start a protest to show my parents that their beliefs are wrong but I'm pretty sure my parents don't feel that way even though my "friend" and her parents do. I've had people totally freak out because somebody of a different race asked me out.....I seriously don't see that big deal and I wish everybody would just get over it.

I'm fourteen, I don't date yet because I think I'm still too young. Anyway, if I did, I'd actually prefer to date out of my race. My parents aren't racist or anything in anyway either, so as long as I was old enough to date, they wouldn't care what race the person was. I'm not saying Asian guys are better looking than any other race, but I would especially like to date a Japanese or Korean guy some day, not just for their looks, but it would also be interesting if they were from Asia and spoke Japanese/Korean, Chinese and Native American guys too. Oh yeah, I'm white, I'm just obsessed with Japan (language, culture, history, etc.) so that's why my avatar doesn't look like me.

Super easy it is NOT!

The issue is not one of race however, It is one of culture. I don't give a darn what their skin color is, however, along with certain races quite often come certain cultural values and ways of life that I might not agree with. Even if they were the same race, the issue of culture is the question.

Example, I am very familiar with many middle eastern cultures. I would not be want a child of mine (especially a daughter) marrying someone of most middle eastern cultures. Especially if there was any chance they might go to live in that part of the world. I do not approve of many of their family and moral values.

Can I control who they marry: No! But, as with any good parent I want what is best for them and I would truly worry about a culture that I felt would be incompatable with their welfare.

Just as a side note: Any one who descriminates based on race is an idiot. But, to descriminate based on cultural compatibility is certainly worthy of discussion.

I am a teen and if I was attracted to a guy of another race than, yeah I would date him. My parents would be behind me too. Racism needs to end, its as simple as that. People are all the same no matter what race they are and shouldn't be treated any different just because they have more melanin in them. ;)

I wouldn't date someone of a different race. And when I have kids I believe that they will not date someone of a different race. Would I disapprove..... yes and no. It's hard to explain. First off I'm from a town that the only other different race is Hispanic so it'd be a little hard to date someone of a different race in this place.

I would date someone of another race if they were kind etc. My parents wouldn't have a problem about it. But - if they did disagree then I probably wouldn't. They would have their reasons for not wanting me to date them and I value their opinion. They would judge the guy not by his colour, or ethnicity they would judge them on whats on the inside.

Every time I've dated, I've dated outside my race. I have dated many times, but never someone inside my race. If my parents didin't agree I wouldn't care.

I personally wouldn't date out of my race. I am just not attracted to other races. That doesn't make me racist though. If I had kids, I would let them date whomever they want (for race anyway).

i think you have to be open-minded. i know that not all people agree with it, but i would say meet the person (if you're a parent dealing with this) and try talking to you child and see how they feel about the other person. if you think it's a good relationship, then i would allow it. if not, tell you child why.

depending on the kid, they might date the person even if you (or a parent) says no.

Yes. And I'm the Dad.

Just remember that children who are of a mixed race are often rejected by the members of both of the races that their parents are.

For that reason I decided that I wanted to marry someone of my own race.

By the way I have good friends who are of many different races and ethnic backgrounds.
