Target has an excellent one made by Philips/Norelco for $18.89. I've had dozens of trimmer sets over 30 years of wearing a beard and this one is my favorite, even compared to ones that cost a lot more. The picture in the link below just shows the trimmer, but it comes with a stand and a whole set of snap-on accessories. I guarantee you he'll be happy with it.

Remington. I got one for my husband for 35.00 last year. It has multi functions.
