You couldn't pay me to live inside the loop. The West U and Med Center areas are overpriced, River Oaks is ridiculous, Montrose is both run-down and "quirky" (sorry, I choose "safe" over "quirky"). The rest is a slum with downtown in the middle.

I live in Memorial, and my neighbors are human (for the most part), nice (also, for the most part), and most of their guns are for sport instead of home protection. I have no fear going out at night, when I hear police sirens it means they're nabbing another speeder, and we don't have a gang problem.

EDIT: In addition, I'm not a big fan of diverrrrrrrrrrsity. My neighbors are mostly American (the rest are studying to be American) and heavily Republican.

I actually live in Atascocita(Atascocita Forest to be exact), but I commute to the Museum District four days a week. I love living in Atascocita, my neighbors are real cool. I used to live near Reliant, but I moved on up. If you don't have your own transportation, then around the loop is the best place for you to stay.

I live in the Houston Heights. It is 10 minutes northwest of downtown. Historic homes are mixed with new high density townhomes. Mostly a residential area with the business areas around W. 19th Street and the southern end of Studewood Dr.

Yes, I live in the Loop. I live in the Upper Kirby area. Very close to West U and the Medical Center and Downtown. Great location. I have great neighbors. Nice apartments , duplexes, and townhomes here, and people take pride in their residences. Most are professionals who work in the med center or downtown. Nice place to live... very low crime.
