Two things to correct overheating problems.
1--backflush the entire system. Deposit build up along the water jacket on the engine is acting as an insulation, preventing heat to transfer properly from the engine metal parts, to the coolant fluid, as the fluid circulates through the water jacket.
2--faulty thermostat. The thermostat is a valve that directs some of the coolant to bypass the the radiator, and instead returns coolant directly back into the engine. It allows the engine to warm up faster. As the engine warms up, the thermostat begins to open and allow more coolant to enter the radiator. If its faulty, its sending heated radiator back into the engine again.
3.--If back flushing the system and replacing the thermostat doesn't correct the problem, then the 3rd (big headache, time-consuming project) cause of overheating is a faulty water pump thats not pumping enough coolant through the system. This is a major project, so do the simple once first before replacing the water pump. U can diagnose the water pump easily by disconnecting the outlet line from the engine, leading into the radiator inlet, located on the top of the radiator. Start the engine, and see if its pumping coolant out, and if the flow/pressure increases as you give the throttle more gas. Connect a garden hose into the radiator to replenish the water as coolant fluid leaves the engine's coolant outlet line.

Is it cold there? how is your anti-freeze protection level? either your thermostat is stuck closed or cooling system and radiator froze? GOOD LUCK
