My parents never told me that Santa was real. They just told me it was a tradition and that parents put the presents under the trees. Did anyone else have this experience? How did you feel? How would you feel if you had had this experience?

epark...my mother went through a similar experience and that is why she elected not to lie to me. She was heartbroken and even though kids kept telling her she didn't believe that her mother would lie to her. She was 12 when her mom finally came clean.

When I was 8 (i think), my parents sat down with me one Christmas morning, and dropped the bomb. They thought I was too old to still believe in Santa. They explained the "spirit of Santa", and told me the truth behind they myth. No red suit, no reindeer, no North Pole etc.. I was devestated. I didn't want my presents, and told my parents they were liars, and that Santa wasn't going to bring them anything. It was the school of hard knocks for my 8 yr old self.

Yes, I did believe in Santa. I still remember the day - in midsummer if I'm not mistaken that I woke up and went out to my parents and said "Santa isn't real, is he?" They weren't prepared for that and just said "No."

And they were half right. What I learned going into my adulthood is that we carry Santa around with us all the time, and that we can even invoke the name of "santa" at any time of the year. Everytime we do something for someone else just to see their joy and without expecting anything in return - well we're santa.

nope, my mom and dad told me that every christmas santa came and gave up presents, and i was pretty into it, untill one day i was in my moms room, and i saw a doll, and i asked about it, she said it was for my cousin, and then on christmas i got the doll as a present, lol i was six, after that i just pretended that santa exsited for my brother, and then when he found out, my sister was born, lol so now we have to pretend for ym baby sisters, its like the never ending cycle
