Hi
I can't believe what I'm reading! Don't listen to all this people, they DO celebrate the day of the dead in cuba, but it's NOT a big party if that what you mean.
It is celebrate on November 2, ...and I remember because my grandma used to go every year to the cementery with some flowers to her dead parents.

Officially the Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition that combines mythological history with religious one. People dress like the dead, they go to the cemeteries at night and they give food to the dead. I have heard of a similar tradition in Cuba, though it is more about taking flowers to the dead and praying that they are in a safe place. I have heard about it from my grandparents, but it is not the same.
Mexican tradition states that the dead rise for one day to join their family and friends, and that is why they take food and clothes and candles to the dead. SInce they were supposed to live for a day, to walk among the living, the dead need some of our articles, and entertainment. Look it up of google, lovely tradition, I have never seen it in person, but in pictures and documentaries it is great.

In Mexico, they do this.
Many countries with Spanish ties celebrate this type of holiday.
Even here in the Philippines on Halloween, people spend the night in the cemetery in some sort of ritualistic watch over the dead.
Here, it lasts about 24 hours.
