Penelope Pennywise is a fun character, in fact she probably shows the most range out of anyone in the show. She needs to transition from someone who runs her toilet space with an iron fist to a somewhat caring mother and spurned lover. It's a funny show, very tongue in cheek. I suggest you look up a detailed synopsis where the songs placements are indicated. I would say you need to sing something that belts and is brass and melodramatic.

Maybe:
All That Jazz - Chicago
Don't Tell Mama - Cabaret
Don't Rain on My Parade - Funny Girl
Everything's Coming Up Roses - Gypsy
Hit Me With a Hot Note - Sophisticated Ladies
I Ain't Down Yet - The Unsinkable Molly Brown

Here is some info on the show:

good luck,

Love, love, love Urinetown. Now one of the things about Penneywise is she needs to belt (or at least "character" belt) to a G (in Privledge to Pee). No easy feat. I suggest picking an uptempo song that shows a high belt. Something Kurt Weill-ish might work. Check out:

Surabaya Johhnny - Happy End
Pirate Jenny - Threepenney Opera
Barbara Song - Threepenny Opera (not normally belted, but it goes up to a high F, so if you can belt it, go for it)
Surabaya Santa - Songs for a New World (this is kind of a take off of Surabaya Johnny about a woman mourning her fate as Mrs. Claus. It's verrrry funny and you can really camp it up)

Break a leg!!

How about trying 'Castle On A Cloud' from Les Miserables? It is always a good one if you're trying to be a child. 'Where Is Love?' From Oliver 'Tomorrow' from Annie 'Naughty', 'I'm here' or 'quiet' from Matilda the musical You could also try 'part of your world' from The Little Mermaid or something Disney because although they're not made for children you can often sound childish whilst singing them. Its difficult to do mezzo whilst trying to show you can be a child but you could do 'On My Own' from Les Miserables or 'I'm not that girl' from Wicked. Or maybe 'shadowland' from lion king although that is really quite low. Hope this helps! Good luck with your audition.
