My course was Red Cross/AHA accredited. it say sthat " i am certivied in accordance to the AHA for the BLS for healthcare providers (CPR AND AED) program)...never noticed it said that. So I take then I am BLS certified....

A CPR course teaches you more than just how to use an AED and to relieve choking. It is true that they are components of the course, you also are taught rescue breathing, chest compressions, and how to treat shock. You must also take a written test and complete a practical on each scenario to be certified. If your course has not been approved by American Heart and your instructor does not have instructor credentials your course is invalid.
You should receive an official card when you have successfully completed a authorized course.

BLS does not have a concrete definition. It is generally the set of skills that includes...
- CPR for infants, children, and adults
- Rescue breathing for all the above
- Dealing with choking for conscious and unconscious victims
- Bag Valve Masks
- 2-rescuer CPR
- Using the AED
- Legal issues for people who have a duty to respond
In general, the typical Adult CPR/AED class is not usually considered BLS.

If you were BLS certified you would have received a certificate. I completed my course this semester and have 4 certs. Together these 4 certs mean I am BLS certified.

What was the name of your course and who did you take it through? I think generally speaking, BLS is a term used by the American Heart Association (AHA)
