Seems like a logical plan to have a competing currency, cut government by 50%, cut spending, stop giving money to foreign countries. Why is this such a crazy idea since its illegal in the first place.

Having an income tax is crazy. There should only be a consumption tax. But that will never happen, it would kill the economy.

The idea of a federal income tax was to tax the rich, and to reduce their hold on the economic power. But the idea is based on a false premise that the rich unjustly earned the money and thus owes more to society than the poor. But in reality, once the income tax was established, the burden of the tax trickled down to the poor and the middle class, while the rich found new ways and loopholes to reduce the burden that was imposed upon them.

Regardless, the idea of an income tax punishes those who earn more, and rewards those who earn less. This is like punishing someone for their ability to earn more.

On that effect alone, the income tax is immoral and unjust, and counter-productive to prosperity, and there fore, un-American.

"Why is this such a crazy idea since its illegal in the first place." - Sorry, not illegal.

From the constitution:
Article 1, Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes...

Amendment XVI
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

The law that congress passed to establish the income tax is USC TITLE 26—INTERNAL REVENUE CODE http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/uscode26/usc_sup_01_26.html

Cutting out the income tax is a long overdue act! There is nothing illogical or crazy about it especially since as you point out it is illegal because there is no such thing in the Constitution. The case of how we have entrenched ourselves to the slavery of Income Tax reminds me of a scene in the Matrix when Agent Smith is speaking to the detained Morpheus. He tells him with disgust for the human race that we were offered a perfect Matrix first- every accommodation imaginable but we wouldn't have it. Maybe it's in our human nature to prefer to be controlled rather than to be free...

How is it illegal, the constitution only allows for an income tax, the legislation that instituted the tax is a separate bill entirely, we need to repeal the income tax and move to a tax that is better for the economy and allows us to spend and save.

It's like choosing from a party with a $25 cover charge and all you can drink or no cover charge but drinks are $12. Who benefits on the last one, those who can afford the $12 dollars drinks (the rich).
