In the old days, they used wood ashes to get rid of evil. Since wood ashes ARE lye, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
And yes, wood ashes and animal fat boiled together was the original soap.

well look at this if you post a dreamcatcher over your bed it is said that it will keep nightmares away. FALSE! I have one and i have nightmares a lot! It's an Old Wise Tale!!! I never heard of yours but I'm guessing it's the same. What you need is a KJB to keep evil away.

You can use it to make soap...I think the recipie is on he can... then you can wash away all the evil...errr dirt.
