If so, why. If not, why not?

sorry - I should have been more clear. I know it's limited but is it a good idea for it to be limited?

No. If we are the assume that the concept of liberty is an unalienable right, then it would be wrong to limit anyone's freedom of expression.

Exceptions to this would be when it conflicts with another's freedom (for instance, I want to express myself by stuffing a sock in someone's mouth to let them know I don't agree with what they're saying).

Also, in any private forum, like a business or a person's home, the owner(s) should be able to dictate what is and is not acceptable, so long as the individual who would then be censored is permitted to leave and express his or her self elsewhere.

Freedom of expression is limited in so much as it's not legal to incite hatred, or to be used with the intent to cause a breach of the peace. Otherwise we can say what we want...can't we? Correct me if I'm wrong, it's just that at this moment I can't think of anything that I can't say. I remember the protests of the 60s, I was on many of them, but even then there were restrictions, any gatherings of three or more people could be grounds for arrest, I learnt that from experience. The authorities do appear to be getting tougher on protests but I don't think it's so different...yet.

We, muslims, have a rule from Allah that shows us how to speak and we are restricted by Him to follow it. It is very nice and polite as you will see, maybe that's why most muslims expect to be spoken to/about the same way (although this is not right, we shouldn't expect anything bad/good from non-muslims, since they don't know about Allah's teachings yet). This rule is: 1. Don't lie. 2. Don't say offensive things in public (especially behind the target) even if it is true, if you have to say anything that may be offensive to anyone, say it at his face, in private between you and him, as much as possible. Excepted from no. 2, when the target is obdurate, and being the public speech a part of the solution, or when it becomes a must to warn others. Thank you for reading.

If people had enough common sense to behave decently I would say no. Everyone should have the right to express themselves. Unfortunately you always get one idiot that ruins it for the rest of us by doing something stupid. There are good people and bad people in the world and if you want to give freedom of expression to the former you also have to give it to the latter. This doesn't really work so we all have to suffer with new laws due to the few maniacs.

Its law. Human Rights Act, Article 10, freedom of expression:

Everyone has the right of freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without inference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.

By WHO ??! THAT is the Question AND the problem. The Terrorists that struck on 9/11 limited our freedom of expression... And so has the Bush Administration since then... How many MORE "limitations" will people accept before they finally feel "safe" -ANYWHERE??! The MORE "limitations" there are, the fewer freedoms we have...

interesting controversial question!!!
I personally, believe it should be limited, our freedom of expression can be offending to some people.
However, having the freedom to express ourselves isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I guess at the end of the day, you should know that some things must be confined.

Freedom to express yourself has been limited over the last few years, with laws like not being able to protest without permission and so on
