Single woman now outnumber married women in this country. There are many reasons a woman may be single such as becoming a widow or divorce, but the largest number simply choose not to marry. You are far from alone. Merry Christmas.

I think a person needs a reason of why they don't want to marry, and they should be clear about that. Like I think it's wrong to say that they don't want to marry because they will have too many kids and that's not right during global warming, or they say they don't want to marry because all men are bad. However saying they don't want to marry because they feel they are strong enough to not need a mate, or they don't need a mate in their profession, or they have enough education to support themselves is just fine, those are good answers. But if someone says they are afraid of sex, afraid of men, afraid of childbirth, etc. then I think some counseling (to clear up their fears) is good to have.

When I was growing up there were a lot of people who went off to the nunnery, priesthood or friars, and a lot of women who took care of their parents till they died which was their entire life and they became what people would call "old maids" which at the time was not a derogatory comment. So lots of people didn't marry back then. Today with the exposure on tv and the lax school system regarding rules, and with children getting involved in sex much too early and dating much too early, sex and marriage are talked about too much.

No, you're not the only one who doesn't want to get married.
And, you can get into card groups, attend seminars, get education, have a career, or whatever you choose in your single life and still have friends, and it's good to just have friends.

You will do yourself and the world a great service if you do not get married. You can't handle marriage. You can't handle the responsibility, the pressure, the mandates or the structure. You can't give of yourself and you want everything your way. You want to control, dictate, manipulate, and pay nothing of yourself in return. You can't cook, clean, plan, organize, delegate, communicate, or cooperate.

And everyone agrees with this.
