and i finished my medication but it still feels like the infection is there. i've been drinking water and cranberry juice and keeping hydrated and everything..did the medication not work? or will the infection go away soon?

You need to call your doctor back. You probably just need a different medicine. Good luck and God bless!

If you feel NO better, then go back to the doctor. The antibiotic they gave you may be resistant to the type of bacterial infection that you have.
Sometimes they will give you a 3 day course of antibiotics, and with those, typically you will still have SOME symptoms after you finish the meds. If that's the case they should subside within a week of finishing them.
Keep up the fluids, keep drinking the cranberry juice in the mean time.

Have you been having sex? I know (wtf?) right? Your partner might have gotten it as well, and gave it back to you while you were in the middle or near the end of getting rid of it. Many times men are asymptomatic with those sorts of things. Go back to the doc and take your partner with you.

if you are still having symptoms, the medication may not have been strong enough, call your doctor and have another urinalysis done.
