okay, so i was talking to my friend. he used to work at the dining hall. he said during his breaks he used to play connect the dots on the back of food trays. i said to him "GAL -get a life" but in a joking matter. and he said yea i do need to get a life. was what i said really offensive? because i really meant it in a joking matter.

no if he's your friend then he will know that you were just jokeing around. if you feel guilty about it then just tell him your sorry

You didn't mean it in an offensive way. You should just tell your friend that after you thought about what you said, he may have taken it the wrong way. Let him know that you didn't mean it the way that it came out, and let him know that he is important to you. Tell him that he should connect all the dots he wants!
Make it a light subject.

I don't think it's offensive if you were joking, but maybe your friend has low self-esteem and it hurt his feelings...Maybe you could help him get a life and take him out! :)
