This question brought back a funny memory. Yes, they would make the threat once in a while, but never actually did it - UNTIL - one year my smart-alecky brother teased my parents about them making the threat and never following through. Christmas morning he ran to his stocking to find a little bag of coal and nothing else. He turned around to look at my parents with wide, unbelieving, poor little boy eyes and my parents started laughing hysterically. Then they pulled out a bag of his real stocking stuffers for him. It really was funny.

no i dont think so. I think it is santas way of showing he knows whos the best barbicuer. and he just may have extra coal he dosnt need around the workshop.

Actually I think it's even better than that. I think he wants you to take the coal, put it someplace where you can keep it tightly squeezed, and eventually you'll have diamonds. Can't think of where he'd want you to keep it tho.
