A quick look at these events will prove that the problem is actually a "Clash of Fundamentalist Extremists." The majority of the people in the civilizations of the world are more pragmatic, moderate, and reasonable, than the extremists causing the clashes.
However, the concept of an ominous "Clash of Civilizations" will always make more exciting "news" stories, and sell more books.

I think we are setting ourselves up for a self-fulfilling prophecy towards this. I have no problem with civil clashes of civilizations.. it's the ones that end in war we should try to avoid.

We are now a global community and so we're having to face up to big differences when comparing our lifestyle and values to others. Rather than trying to change them to be like us, we need to find some common ground so that we can co-exist. Some cultures are very resistant when it comes to change and accepting outsiders, so all that we can do is try to accomadate their needs as best we can without compromising ours. The more mature people are when it comes to addressing our differences, the fewer conflicts there will be.

I think that it is all too easy to give in to the feelings of hatred and xenophobia.
Bush is fanning the flames of fear, war, paranoia, hatred and xenophobia and should be ashamed of himself
