this is so wrong and is it the message we should be giving, like 'naughty naughty' slap on the wrist 'now don't do it again'? The original sentence should have stuck for gosh sakes, what is wrong with the Judiciary of the blessed UK are they all losing the plot?

Each of the boys contributed to this mans death. They are all involved in the attack and therefore, without being able to determine who threw the 'fatal brick', they should all serve a tough sentence, irrespective of their age.
Imagine how powerful a message this could be to thousands of kids the same age?
Teachers and, more importantly, parents would be able to say to their own children. 'look what happened to these boys when they were disrespectful and violent to someone.....they are in prison for 15 years each (which is what it should have been anyway).

Where is the effective deterrant in society now????

They have got to face up to the extreme seriousness of what they did. Perhaps they didn't think further than their noses about the possible consequences, but they certainly aimed to cause pain and injury. At the age they were at the time there can be no doubt that they were well able to that hurling rocks and stones at innocent people is extremely dangerous. They have deprived another family of their dad and it can't just be shrugged off. This was a joint enterprise and as the result of their combined action this poor man lost his life. The fact that it can't be established which particular stone caused the fatal blow does not alter this fact.
The violent disorder offences are also being considered. The final outrage would be if they were to be overturned and the boys awarded compensation for their time in youth custody.

Thats crazy, 2 years for what they have done is just like a slap on the wrist, the has to be more of a punishment and rehabilitation they are clearly not going to take it as serious as it is, what was going through the head of whoever sentanced them?!

Criminals must pay for the evil that they caused. The boys must be placed under rehabilitation for killing a person.

Where kids are concerned the justice system stinks, they should be harder on them to try and stop them turning into worse criminals in adult life!
