Im from Southern Louisiana and mine is Mardi Gras.
Its so great!! Not the commercialized Mardi Gras. The real one with people dressed in formals and masks.

It's a toss up between 4th of July (I absolutely adore watching fireworks - they're so mesmerizing) & my daughter's birthday (which just happens to be May 5th {Cinco De Mayo} because I love to see how happy she is @ her party w/ her friends (we try to do something different every year) & when she opens her presents!).

Mardi Gras seems really awesome, but I've never had a chance to celebrate it. I guess my favorite holiday is Christmas, but not because of the gifts, I just like it cause I can hang with the family.

queens birthday.....its the middle of winter here in australia and we get a long weekend (for a bogus day) and a sleep in......nothing wrong with that : )
