as a teacher, I would have to say ANYTHING but a coffee cup! Who picks up a coffee cup and thinks "gee, i think my teacher could use one of these!"? After only 6 years of teaching I HAVE TONS OF COFFEE CUPS.
Best bet is something useful. Bath and body pump soaps. Gift certificates. Chocolates.
And unless you are in college I would not recommend continuing to "fancey" him!!!!

A container of ADVIL! No, mustnt pass drugs to them, it would be a bad example. There are those 'chicken soup' books that have such good heartwarming stories---and I know there is one for teachers with other teachers memories or stories.
Teachers have homes and families too, so I know my teacher friends would enjoy the home made cookies, jams, cheeze and sausage gift packs.

Well, age appropriateness is a factor- is this a 'crushing' present, or a 'thanks for everything' present? Your best bet is a small something for the holidays. Buying for a birthday is a little too personal, and remember, it's not personal- it's professional. I am studying to be a teacher right now, and we have ethics lessons on such things. Please, the best gift you can give him is to be a good friend and be respectful.

My wife is a Teacher and she get tons of "you are my #1 teacher" Christmas ornaments and they get old fast. I recommend Gift Certificates. Just don't forget that you are giving someone a gift that might get 25 of the same thing.

You don't need to let your teacher know you have a crush. Just do well in your class and give him a nice card and maybe some cookies.
*Even worse. If you are trying to flirt with him, you risk failing your class and getting him fired if he reciprocates. Give him an "I fancy you" present after your class is over.

Gift certificates to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Teachers need caffeine to keep up with students and are too tired at night to cook!

I don't think a 22 year old should have to buy anything. Opening this question I thought it was for a kindgergarden teacher!
