Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. Nor do any of the Arab states. They want to kill them all and throw them into the sea. As far as land, its the Palestinians that want land from Israel.

They want to give Israel some land? Nice turn of phrase.
A more accurate phrase might be "do they want to let Israel keep the pre 1967 borders?"
And from what I have read polls have been taken on the issue. And most polls seem to indicate that the majority they do not want Israel to exist at all though some certainly do.
One of the basic problems is that the Palestinians who are willing to concede on peace are not the ones that are in change. Hamas, which was elected by the Palestinians is committed to destroying Israel. And don't get me started on Fatah.

I'm not picking sides here, so please don't flame me.
Yes, a lot of Palestinians are very upset over the way their land was given to the state of Israel by the UN.
A lot of Palestinian people were displaced when this happened. They were given very little to no compensation for their property and in some instances was given very little time to leave their land. Many people had to leave their possessions behind for this reason.
All of this has fostered several generations of hate against the Israelis.
I know that if the UN showed up at my property and demand that I hand it back to some American indian tribe that held it hundreds of years ago, there would be a fight and the results would be ugly.
And I think most Americans would have a problem with the UN telling them this as well.
So for me, it is easy to see the position of the Palestinians that were displaced, many of which still reside in refugee camps with no money or anywhere to go.
And most importantly they have no hope and nothing to lose....which fosters terrorism.

Israel should certainly get to keep the land they bought in the 40s. Then there are those nasty mosquito infested swamps they drained. The truth is noone wanted to live there until Israel moved in and cleaned the place up..

A large number (I don't want to say half or even 33%) do not want Israel to exist at all. This is also true of other Muslim nations and Islamic following nations like Iran who's leader recently said Israel would be wiped from the planet.

Some Palestinian's don't want to let Israel exist, those who are very angry. Sensible Palestinians believe in a secular ,binational state, with a right to return, which is a more humane and rational option.

@ Misanthropist: Do you mean the land Israel "stole" when the United Nations declared a Jewish State, and was immediatly invaded by Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria?

I don't see what the huge fuss is and the billions of wasted dollars spent on that piece of land the size of Rhode Island... Why doesn't Saudi Arabia give some land the size of Israel to the Jews and what's now Israel to the Palestinians, or viceversa? The entire conflict is ridiculous, as if that land were rich in something... it's all desert and nothing grows there.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the world’s major sources of instability. Americans are directly connected to this conflict, and increasingly imperiled by its devastation.
It is the goal of If Americans Knew to provide full and accurate information on this critical issue, and on our power – and duty – to bring a resolution.

Interesting way to put it...do they want to give Israel some land.
Israel fought for its land and its right to exist.
Palestinians thought they could get it back, that the Jews would be exterminated by their Arab brothers and they would walk back in in a matter of weeks.
Instead they lost the war, they had no practical support and they wound up living in the Gaza when their Arab brothers, with the exception of Jordan, refused their pleas for entry into the other countries in unlimited quantities.
So in reality, its does Israel want to give the Palestinians some land.
Winners make decisions.
In the '67 war, Israel won the Sinai peninsular, they gave it back to Egypt for peace, and thats worked fairly well.
The Hamas movement wants Israel out and 'their' land back.
and while they are at it Jerusalem too. Pretty cheeky for a group that lost, and loves to send suicide bombers into civilian pizzerias.
When they did have control of Jerusalem, they did not allow the Jews to pray at their most revered spot, the Wailing Wall of the Temple. The Jew allow Arabs, and Christians to pray at their holy places, I can't think they are going to go back to the old ways.
Its never easy to lose a war, you lose land, rights and goverment, its also important to remember that Israel sixty years ago didn't have all the irrigation, farms, and modern cities that it does now, it was a backwater living on tourism of the faithful.
Why wouldn't Palestinians want to come back to the land that in some cases they sold, now that it is valuable, arable, and developed.
And all for no work at all that they themselves did.
And you want to know why they want it?
