It's not true. I have a friend who is convinced drug companies have the cures for all known diseases but are hiding that fact so they can make money. And he's a smart guy (but wrong). Folks often believe odd things because it seems we live in an inexplicable world. Some goofball theories seem to make it make sense out of it all but often the obvious truth is really what it is.

The free masons were quite powerful more than a hundred years ago and have no doubt powerful men in the US and Britain were members. But I don't believe that is the case any more. Just another conspiracy theory.

No, we don't run the world. 13 presidents are known Freemasons with several others unsure. We are only a charitable organization.

You friend is wrong, only 14 US Presidents have been Freemasons, the last was Ford some 30 years ago.
to some other responses:
* the freemasons would never "eliminate" anyone...
* the banking system is not run by freemasons either...
* they have not all been Skulls either...

but if you look at the origin of the banking systems, you will find it is run by them.
1. How do banks give credit to countries?
2. How do banks approve, disapprove loans to governments?
3. What families have owned banks for hundreds of years?
4. What are the origins (going back 200 years) of the current banking systems?

They seem to all have been members of Skulls and Bones, which to me is simply a fraternity for the super wealthy and exclusive like a country club. However, them being some kind of "Templar's Knights" is highly unllikely, and they seem to be more a romanticized group that provides excellent reading material.
