I made a cat sort of noise at my cat today, and she turned round sharply and stopped, then meowed at me, and I made another convincing cat sound and she meowed at me again, this went on for a while, me meowing and the cat meowing back...

Was I... somewhat... communicating with it? lol

You sure were! The English translation went something like this:

You: Hey!
Cat: What?
You: Hey!
Cat: What??
You: Hey!
Cat: WHAT!?

I do that with my cats all the time. Sometimes they meow back if i talk to them in english.

Its weird how cats can know that you are trying to communicate with them.

Cats meow only to communicate with humans, they use other type of communication among themselves, or so science says. You can talk to animals if you really put yourself to it. Key point: picture in your mind what you want the animal to do or understand.

I remember seeing that on the news once about a woman that could talk to her cats and she made strange noises and the cat responded, cats are intellegent creatures just watch what you say or the cat might pee in your shoes
