Under bush and the patriot act, you have effectively lost nearly all the legal rights provided by the Constitution. If you speak out against your government you can be arrested and kept in prison till you die. No miranda rights, no due process, no trial by jury, no protection against torture.. nothing. Why don't people understand this?

President Bush signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 into law on October 17, 2006. The declaration of a person as an "unlawful enemy combatant" is at the discretion of the US executive branch of the administration, and there is no right of appeal, with the result that this potentially suspends habeas corpus for any resident, citizen or non-citizen, of the USA.

You really should take up reading for a hobby. If you did, you would know that US citizens are not covered by that clause in the Act, that only aliens can be declared as enemy combatants.

"Enemy combatants" are non-US citizens or residents caught outside the US on a battlefield while engaged in hostile acts. There never has been either Constitutional protections or Geneva Convention safeguards for non-uniformed, non-state fighters engaged in hostile acts against armed national forces.

Yes, and the Prez has sole discretion to so name someone. Pretty scary-1/2 step away from fascism.
And to those who deny, without having studying the facts, that it has been used against Americans, you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

So, in the past year, what have those Dems in Congress done about this-- and what solution are you proposing?
I don't actually agree with your understanding of the Patriot Act, incidentally. I merely wish to point out that the Democrats haven't done anything about it.

Don't suppose you could post a link to a case where the Patriot act has actually been used to violate an American's rights ?

That's what forfeiture of Habeus Corpus is. That is what the Patriot Act does.
