I am not going to go to prison but a very dear friend may be, I just want to know what kind of feelings, emotions etc are actually normal

Well it's a major loss. Their spouses can feel like they're in prison as well. It's very stressful!

A close friend of mine got sent to prison...to be honest, it's difficult. It depends how long they're going in for, but even a few months would be hard. It feels like losing a friend...there were times that I would drive to his house, just to see if he'd been let out early but he never had. You have to deal with the fact that you can't see that person any more in a normal environment, or do any of the things that you loved doing together. You can't just pick up the phone and call them when you want a chat or you're feeling down. It's worrying that they're in a place full of criminals, especially as you often don't think of your friend as a criminal. I was constantly terrified that he was getting beaten up, but he never did and I don't think that happens often. It's normal to feel angry with the person...after all, you've lost a friend (even if it's temporary) and it's due to their actions. But if you can, I think it's important not to give up on them and be there for them when they're released because that can be pretty tough for them. It also depends very much on what their crime was as to how you react...if it's something completely morally wrong I should imagine you'd be really confused and hurt that your friend could do that, but it doesn't sound like your friend did something like that. It's easier if it's something pretty minor, or just stupid because then you don't feel that you've had another side of your friend revealed to you. Good luck to you and your friend

I use to know a guy that went to prison,for robbing a guy and beating him half to death. I think he deserved more than 10 years.

Very stressful. Hopefully they will never get back into trouble!
