My dryer is taking 2-4 cycles (timed dry 70 minutes, or 6-7 regular dry cycles) to dry a regular load of laundry, 2 cycles to dry a small load. not only is that costing a lot for electricity, but my clothes often don't smell so good since it stays damp for so long. What parts do i need or am i going to have to replace it?

Make sure the vent is clear of lint that blows past the filter; check to make sure the vent hose is clean and a clear shot to the outside vent. Last case change the heating element.
Try some smaller loads and see if things seem to be generating enough heat.

If the dryer appears to be getting hot, then you definitely have an air flow problem - lint in filter/ hose, kinked hose, restricted or stopped up outside exhaust. A dryer works by both of these - heat & air flow.

Same problem 2nd dryer? Your vent is definetly plugged and your dryer is fine. To prove my point,dry one load with the vent off the back of the dryer. Do not do this if it's a gas dryer.

I agree with checking the filter and the hose to make sure lint has not collected. that happened to me, and the dryer wasn't working so well. I didn't take care of it right away and the dryer caught on fire from the clogged lint.

Check your lint trap.. If you use fabric softer.. Clean your lint trap and try to run under water.. If the water does NOT run through the mesh... Clean it with soap/water... fabric softner leaves a clear residue on your lint trap and in time could stop the air flow outside and burn out the heating element.. Also, try cleaning the lint trap with a vacuum attachment.. You'd be surprised at what's hiding in there....

Clean filter after every load as mentioned. Maybe the Heating element needs replaced. Appliance repairman will charge around 65.00 for this, but the electric bill you save will be worth it.

Wizip is right but go outside and check the vent outside. Mine has an animal guard (like a screen) that was covered with lint. Brush it off with a wire brush and re-install it.

Make sure the filter is kept clean.
Also make sure there is not something blocking the air flow from inside the dryer to the outside.
