I love David Bowie, The Beatles, ELO, and other older bands.
I didn't even grow up during those times! ;)
So I find this question more funny.
The music now, really annoys me, but I will find some that catch my interest, but the percentage isn't as high as the older music.

Am I the ONLY person who loves older music?
Why?

hehehe, are some of you pathetic?
I just named some, but I LOVE an endless list of older music.

If I named all of them, then that would take up the WHOLE page- so that is the reason why I named a "few"

If you're going to rant & bash, then I will BLOCK YOU- plain & simple

Think before you type ;)

Good question :)
Without older music, then where would be the bands now?
Older music is the BEST!
Very inspirational to the new generation.

No, I still like older music, but I like to find some good new music too.
Commercial radio is horrible for this purpose. I'd listen to the local alternative FM station in town but they were always too hip to tell you the name of the artist. So finally I went to Satellite which scrolls the year and musician on the LCD screen. Great.
One thing I like about the modern age is that I can usually find some obscure band from 30 years ago on the Internet and usually buy their music.
I don't think music now is generally worse. It's just so niche oriented it's hard to track down.

I'm a major Beatles fan, but that IS what I grew up with.

I absolutely HATE rap. It's not music. (notes, melody? Come ON, people)

But I guess you were really asking if you're the only YOUNG person who loves older music.

Edited to add: When someone instults you on this site, report them using the button. Do NOT insult them back.

I also love broadway musicals: My Fair Lady, Gigi, Camelot, South Pacific, Flower Drum Song. THOSE are OLD.

You're far from alone on this. The music you like is from a time when artistic individuality was prized. Good rock and roll is timeless. Most of the cookie-cutter assembly line crap that's around today gets old real fast. Don't get me wrong, there is some good new music floating around but not a whole lot.

Your statement is kinda funny since all the artists you mentioned are multi-platinum. Lots of interesting people of all ages are discovery good music. The ones who search are the ones who find.

As far as why- alot of new artists don't know how to write songs with melody. Melody are notes or chords that are related. Writing melody requires more than a basic knowledge of songwriting. It takes a certain amount of experience and training. Unfortunately in today's world of fast food music production writing a song with melody is not needed or considered important.

No. Everyone ALWAYS asks that, and it sounds like you're trying to get attention for liking "older" music. A LOT of people listen to The Beatles, don't even TRY to act like you're different. Tons of my friends listen to The Beatles, i'm probably the only one that listens to David Bowie, but still, we're only 13.

No. There is a VERY large number of Classic Rock fans on this board. However, a lot of people will utilize this board to their advantage and find new bands worth listening to.
For instance, not a lot of people know about Gogol Bordello. They are doing some incredible things with the fusion of genres and traditional music styles. Just food for thought.

***Prof: LOL!!! That's great!

No.... I'm still stuck in the 80's - will still listen to the bands of the 50's, 60's & 70's - aside from Marilyn Manson, I don't care for most of the bands today...
