As Eskie says, sometimes both. What she states however is truly a situation where She and her Hubby both get involved, hence "HELP" is significant.

Certainly having the skills, artistic knowledge, etc. as she has; HELP too.

I decorate myself. I live alone, and know exactly what I most enjoy. I have years of experience, and Education in the ARTS, which gives me a leg up, often.

I think more importantly though is to decorate; accessorize; add props; that most suit you, your lifestyle, the room; it's colors; furnishings; carpet; etc. Beyond that certainly is what you wish to achieve and how you want to present that space to others; if that matters.

I happen to use dozens of props on shelving and ledges; and I enjoy creating a THEME for every room. Obviously that's my choice, and it works for me. My Kitchen is an Italian Bistro; designed to simulate an outdoor cafe. My living room is like a casual beach house. My bath is a Grotto. My bedroom is a Spanish; stucco, adobe, while the room I;m in, typing now is LOLOL...Others might define my stylizing as hectic, overdone, busy, etc.

I do decorate by myself, and mostly inside(but i have change the colour of my front door and put some new brass door furniture on to make it look inviting) as I'm always making little tweaks to the overall layout!

I had know choice when i moved into my flat 8 years ago and had to change the scheme cause it was horrendous!

I'd never done any decorating before that, but cause I'm into "Art and Design",painting the place was like a big canvas to make my mark on....and since then,i haven't stopped........i love it!

I would consider it as a job....possibly?!

Well with 30 years of experience in interior design, sometimes I decorate by myself and sometimes I have help. Like for Christmas, my husband helps because I have wreaths hung on my picture window 2 stories up and I won't get on a ladder that high. Plus, our tree is very tall and I can't reach that high so hubby gets on the ladder and I point out where there are holes to put the ornaments in. He also does put up the garlands and all of the decorations on a antique wrought railing that surrounds a niche 16 foot above our living room because that is still a little high for me. We really deck out our house inside and outside for Christmas and in general.
