Not really. He was being bombarded by the evil from Voldemort. When he was being short with someone or being a jerk, it was mostly due to Voldemort, not Harry's own personality.
Also, by that age, he was dealing with hormonal changes that he did not have as an eleven year old. I think Jo Rowling did a great job portraying the occasional volatility of the teenage temper.
I saw some comments about Ron, and I thought Ron was being a jerk most of the time, --but of course his heart was in the right place. Even though Ron comes from a big family, he still doesn't seem to have gotten how to act towards others.
In Harry's case, being an orphan, raised by the type of inlaws he had, it is almost a wonder he turned out to have his head screwed on as well as he did...
--Just my opinion.

I agree with Daniel M. When a teenage boy has to be a man--and more than a man, maybe even a Christ-figure--so early, he's bound to come across as rather unlikable at times. It's too heavy a load for someone so young to carry. Nevertheless, Harry held my sympathies all the way through. I just felt that Ron et al. didn't understand. This medievalist especially like the exchange near the end of HBP, when the new Minister of Magic says scathingly to Harry, "But you're Dumbledore's man" (Dumbledore being dead by then) and Harry replies, "Yes, I'm Dumbledore's man." Whatever the Minister means by "man" in that context--probably a political lackey and coat-tail rider--, Harry seems to mean it in the feudal sense of loyal follower as well as the most basic sense of adult male human. I think we're meant to realize at that point that Harry, still months away from his seventeenth birthday, is now indeed a man.

5th book- yeah, he was a big jerk. But he was going through a phase, he is a teenager, he's allowed to act like one! It doesn't make a difference that he's Harry Potter, he still acts his age... most of the time.
6th book- for most of the book, yeah. But he was just so obsessed with finding out what Malfoy was doing, he was under tons and tons of stress, i can't really blame him.
7th book- he totally outgrew his jerky phase! stopping now in case of spoilers and people that aren't done yet! But it you read it, you know what I mean by he outgrew it. A big jerk wouldn't have done what he did in "Into the Forest Again"
