Break pads are not all the same.
their are cheep ones, mid grade, semi metallic and metallic and now ceramic.
I have to say it really depends on how and where you drive. For example if you live in the city and have a lot of stop and go, your pads will wear out faster then say if you have to drive the highways more.
The pads that came with the car are beat for your car.
Semi metallic is what comes standard on most of today's cars.
If you do a lot of stop and go ceramic is better and will last longer but tend to squeak when you stop.
Being a mechanic I would suggest semi metallic.

Disc brake pads are certainly not "all the same". It would have helped if you'd have included your car's year, make and model. Every automotive parts store, new car dealership and inter-net website has their own slant concerning which type is the best.
Organic based pads are by far the cleanest and do the least amount of wear and damage to brake rotors. The down side is they wear the fastest. Premium organic pads can last 30 -35,000 miles.
Autozone sells Performance Friction pads which are a carbon metallic compound. They claim to be the longest lasting pads you can buy.
GM's AC-Delco division produces semi-metallic and ceramic pads. Ceramic pads are nearly as clean as organics but last much longer.
If you have a heavier vehicle (van or truck) and do many in town stops your pretty much locked into a semi-metallic pad, regardless of rotor wear.
A nice over the road driver car with fancy wheels you'd be better off with ceramic pads as they are cleaner and create less brake squeel and noise.
A light weight sporty car with aluminum wheels would benifit with premium organic pads. They are by far the cleanest and create no noise or wear to brake rotors.
I realize you didn't ask for all this stuff. You asked which pads would last the longest. Well here it is: If Toyota made pads for your car they are the ones to buy. We've seen them last between 50 - 65,000 miles with no rotor damage.
You'll have to decide what's more important to your application. Wear, dust, noise or change them more often.
Remember during any brake job to apply CRC Brake Quiet on the back steel sides of the pads. It's a high temperature silicone vibration and harmonic dampener. In plain words it takes the noise out of dics brake jobs regardless if shims are used on the reverse steel side of the pads.

It's only brakes my friend , not a big deal , they cost peanuts around £12 00 = $24.00 to buy , takes 20 minutes to replace ,

Ceramic or metallic. Check with a auto parts store as which to get.
