Of course they can. It just depends on their level of commitment and effort they put into it but it CAN be done and is done all the time. I know a few single parents that do a better job than many two parent households.

absolutely! My mom was divorced when I was 14 and my brother was 2. She worked little jobs and we got some child support, we were very poor. But she taught us survival skills, social skills and we were expected to do well in school. She beat the crap out of us when we were bad, but she was a loving mom at the same time. I am a special ed teacher with a master's degreee and my brother is a lawyer...we are, very well adjusted, so it is possible!

yes,I'm a single mum of 4 and I'm very proud of them all.my eldest is 23yrs old has completed yr12,she does accounting and very well respected,my 22yr old son is a qualified Boilermaker,my 9yr old son is one of highest in his school in academic achievements and on student council and my youngest son is 8yrs old and he has many awards for achievements and sports. At home they are all very well mannered,I'm old school,so its been a pleasure to raise my kids. They are always invited back to peoples homes and restaurants etc.Its not too hard if your world doesn't fall apart too much and have good support from family and friends. Also, its OK to ask for help,we are strong but some help is great,at the moment my kids have a great choice of friends, but you never know what may happen,I'm just always there.cheers always 3:o)

Yes...my first born is nearly out the door and I know he is better prepared for this world because I was brave enough to raise him without his dad.

It doesn't matter. In most of the two parents homes I've seen there's always one parent that doesn't do squat.
