The question is who WAS the best fast bowler. So, it does not count any of the current players.
Only bowler who was best at being fast was Australian Jeff Thompson. Walsh, McGrath, Ian Botham & Richard Hadlee were really good fast bowlers.
But I would say West Indian Malcom Marshal was the best fast bowler. He was short for a fast bowler. But he extracted excellant pace and bounce.
The stand out factor towards Malcom is he didn't sacrifice the pace even during his later part of career. While all others let pace go and concentrated on line, length and swing.

The best fast bowler in the the world was shoaib akhtar from pakistan, but now it is Lasith Malinga from Sri Lanka.

There have been so many. Lillie, Thomson, Marshell, McGrath, Lee, but I think most people will agree that Wasim Akram was the ultimate .

Wasim Akram is definitely up there, but I'd have to go with Glenn McGrath for his sheer bloody-minded persistence!
