Almost all DVD R/W will down step to CD burner. Load something like Nero and try it. Cd's are pretty cheap. It the device is less than a couple of years old it should have no problem. Just make sure you choose CD in the setup for the burn...

Usually a DVD-RW will do both DVD's and CD's from the same thing.

99% of DVD burners are also able to burn CDs. It is not normally listed on the burner. If in doubt, check the web site of the manufacturer. They will have all the specs for your model.

I would think that it is a cd burner...if it is a really old computer, it might not have a burner, but most likely it does.
