This is a complicated question thats really hard to answer without seeing what you are doing. That said, the most frequest issues for newbies to trap/skeet and general shotgunning are about the same. First, stop trying to aim the gun. Focus on your TARGET, not the front sight. It should be a blur in your peripheal vison, no more. Treat the gun like and exension of your arm. This is only achieved through practice. The gun should come up from a resting low ready position immediately to the pocket of your shoulder. Second, you are trying to hit a moving target. You need to 'lead' (as in 'be a leader', not 'lead pencil')the target a bit. This means having to anticipate where the target is going to be when the shot cluster gets there. If you aim directly at the target as its passing you (even if you follow it), the shot is going to get to the spot after the target is gone. Aim slightly in front of, (or below if its falling) the target. How much depends on your range, choke and shot size. Go buy a $30 launcher from Walmart and a $10 box of clays, find a safe space and go shoot, you will learn more by trial & error than you think.

Never.
Does breaking a bunch of clay pots accidentally count?
Went to the Garden Center this past Spring and purchased some rather large Terra cotta flower pots. Upon opening the van door, they fell to the ground and smashed. Had to buy them all over again. What a waste.

About three weeks ago actually. I have my own skeet machine and I don't keep score. I am very good b/c I have had a lot of practice.
I use a 12 gauge most of the time, sometimes a 20 gauge, and bird shot.
I also practice with my 9mm Glock.

Peace.

Its been a long time since I have had to shoot skeet.

I am shooting blanks thanks to the DR., so skeet is no longer necessary.
