It depends on the situation. If I am drowsy and need to drive, I will go for the coffee, because I know being safe at home and losing out on some sleep is better than being sleepy at the wheel.

If I am at home and want something nice, I'll opt for some decaf coffee or any kind of tea. Oddly enough, tea, regardless of caffeine content, doesn't have that same 'wake up jolt' that coffee does for me.

I only drink coffee/caffeinated drinks when I really need to stay awake at night (ie: studying, homework, projects, etc.)

However, if I need sleep, I never drink coffee/caffeinated drinks at least 5 hours before I sleep.

I haven't had a significant amount of caffeine in 15 years, so I haven't had caffeine late in the day. Although I do drink decaf at all hours of the day.

I drink soft drinks before I go to bed at night. I do not have the problem of caffeine keeping me awake but I do have the problem of having to get up and go to the bathroom but I guess that is to be expected.

Caffeine puts me out like a light. So yes I drink it right up until I go to bed.

Personally I don't have a problem with caffeine keeping me up, so it doesn't bother me, but if you are the type of person that it affects then you shouldn't have caffeine past 2:00 pm
