I don't have a Z28, but I encountered the exact same problem with a Pontiac Sunbird. My problem turned out to be a failed water pump. Once I changed it out, the problem went away. I noticed the boiling noise after I shut off the car.

properly the followers are meant to be working besides the undeniable fact that it can not be as undesirable as you think of... you have gotten a caught thermostat inflicting it to overheat ... now for the air bag mild i'm uncertain... have you ever appeared to make certain that is not salvaged... runa carfax checklist on it.. or look on the call... if it would not say salvaged and you run a carfax and that is been salvaged you could fairly burn that guy a clean one....desire this information helps

I agree with Justin C.

Most likely a stuck thermostat, stuck in the closed position.

Also check/replace the radiator cap. The spring on the radiator cap may be weak and not holding proper pressure.
