Gifts not so much, but a little recognition would be nice.
In the 19 years I've been with my wife, my family has never forgotten her birthday. She always gets a card, most often with some cash in it.
On the flip side though, I can count on one hand the number of times her family has remembered mine. I don't expect a gift or even a card. Just say hey happy birthday there, or something like that. A few years ago I did get a delayed reaction. About 6 months after my birthday my father in law asked me if I had a birthday a few weeks before. This year...nothing...again.

Not important to me at all. The best gift I can get on my b-day is leaving me the F alone.

Ive always been like that, even as a little kid. Never wanted parties or anything. I know, im weird.

It is always nice when some one remembers your birth day and gives you a little something, but really most guys I know are not into gifts. Personally I rather enjoy a nice dinner with my girl or a few beers with my friends.
I guess it also depends how old is the guy you are asking.

I don't think Guys really care about getting a gift. I just think that they just want to celebrate it with the people that they love.

To me, not important. I do appreciate my children calling to wish me a happy b.day, and that's about it, except the gift of love, from my wife.

Not the least bit important to me. I probably wouldn't think about it being my birthday if nobody reminded me.
