If the ford was totalled, you should get money from that too.
Contact a lawyer, you may have far reaching injuries, & you should not have settled.

Unfortunately, your vehicle was a total loss so they would give you either the amount it costs to fix the vehicle or what it's worth, whichever one is less. So in your case, apparently the value of the car is what you are getting. In terms of what you are going to do, there is really only 2 things you can do, (1) take the $6,000.00 and buy a used car, where you will have no car payments, and continue to make the monthly payments for the explorer. or (2) take the $6K and give it to explorer and continue to make your monthly payments.
It's unfortunate that you were in an accident, but fortunately, your injuries don't have to be catastrophic for you to sue them for bodily injuries. Customarily, you won't feel the pains until the next day or even a few weeks later. As long as you did not release them on a Release for Bodily Injuries, you can sue them for injuries. You have to start seeing a chiropractor immediately. Claiming neck, back, and knee injuries, with everyday headaches. You must tell every physician you see every injury you felt from day 1. Your chiropractor should refer you to an Orthopedic Surgeon for your knee(s) and to an MRI facility for an MRI of your Cervical and Lumbar Spine; Your Ortho will refer you for an MRI of the Knee, if he feels it's necessary. As for everyday headaches, how is your chewing? Does your jaw hurt when you open wide? Do you hear clicking in your jaw? If you do, it's possible you have TMJ now. If you suspect that you could possibly have it, then go see a TMJ Specialist to at least evaluate you.
Hire a lawyer. Accident cases work off of contingency fees, meaning they don't get paid, if you don't get paid. Good luck!

Don't accept anything, sign anything or talk to their insurance company. Seek medical treatment immediately. Start planning to seek and retain an attorney that specializes in 18 wheeler accidents. Trucking companies must carry $$million dollar policies. The Trucking company will try to get by with as little as possible. That's where a good attorney comes into play. You are going to play the waiting game of your life, like a very long game of chess, but you will declare checkmate in time to come. I hope everything turns out ok.

Contact the trucking company and tell them that the $6000.00 offer makes your neck and knee hurt more than ever. Tell them that $8000.00 would probably make the hurt go away.
Seriously, the trucking company has nothing to do and is no way responsible for what you may happen to owe on your vehicle. The way it works is you get fair market value for your vehicle regardless of what you still owe on it. Good Luck !

Hire a lawyer immediately. They not only owe you for the vehicle, but your medical bills as well.
