Figure $200 or less for the first visit, around $50-$100 for regular visits after that, many times a doctor will give you a generous discount if you ask and are paying for it yourself. Also almost every city and state has some sort of program to pay for infant healthcare, so check that out, too. The doctor's office will probably know how to help you. Always remember, health first, money second.

A regular office visit checkup costs about $80 at my pedi's office.. but that does not include the vaccinations your baby will need every 2 months. Plan on adding about $100-$150 every 2 months.. I would get insurance for your baby if you don't already have it. Healthcare is very important. Your child could come down with something very serious or need to go to the ER.. you just never know. You should never get caught without health insurance. Try Healthy Families.. I think it's only in California though.. but here is the website anyways. Healthy Families is for middle incomed families and covers children under the age of 18.

Our son's pediatrician office charges 119 per visit if it is being billed to insurance and 92 per visit if it is self pay. The cost for visits that include vaccinations are pretty much the same and don't have a significant cost increase.

Best of luck!

Now time for the information you didn't ask for. Many families who make too much for a cover everything with no charge to you medicate still qualify for a children's access card that has a15 dollar co pay a month, then they cover everything else. Medicaid also has a program where qualifying families receive up to 100 dollars a month per child to pay for an insurance premium. This means that the families would still have the deductible and copays to pay, but they wouldn't have to worry about the monthly premium. More information is available at local department of health and welfare offices.

Find out if your state has a Child Health Plus program. If there is financial need you can get insurance for the child at a very low cost or free and it covers all the usual procedures.

It depends where you live. In a high-cost city like NY it will cost a couple of hundred dollars, probably. Elsewhere, it will be less, but not cheap. Some communities offer well-baby clinics that are free, if money is a problem for you.

depends on the area you live in as well as the doc. most good docs will see that you don't have insurance and will lower the price. for example, the docs in the group i work for will charge as little as $50 for someone who comes in sick and doesn't have insurance. But in richer areas, they may not do this because they assume you have money. i would suggest you go to the nicest doc you can find, but don't try to impress him with the most expensive clothes you own.
