Unfortunately, this depends on our government. They give NASA money to fund whatever project they want to be done. As of right now, it's not looking too good. We're trying to put money in a lot of different directions, such as healthcare, education, and especially our foreign policy. So, if we can somehow persuade congress to provide the funding, then it's possible. I hope atleast.

I think I'm safe in saying that 10 years is impossible.

20 years is only possible with a serious effort by someone who's actually capable of doing it. That's such a big "if" that I'm doubtfull about it happening within 20.

And (off-topic a bit, sorry) I'm doubtful about the value of going to Mars. The asteroids would seem to hold far more promise of being engineered into a permanent home for people.

No. Not 10 not 20 and probably not 30. Maybe 50. We will be lucky if anyone even goes back to the Moon in less than 20 years.

No, sadly not. It is probable it will be the Moon (Luna) first. After that it will be either Mars or a near Earth object. Realistically, a Human Mars landing will not happen much before 2030 or could be even later.

Frankly, I doubt anybody will see it this century. NASA will be lucky to get astronauts back to the moon within 30 years.

If anyone does go to Mars, it will be a Chinese mission...the west no longer has the fortitude for such bold endeavors.

He has stated, "existence in the worldwide is on the ever-increasing possibility of being wiped out via a disaster including surprising worldwide warming, nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or different risks ... i think of the human race has no destiny if it would not go into area." yet another of his in call for expenditures reiterates his place that we ought to get off the planet particularly quickly. "i don't think of the human race will proceed to exist the subsequent a million,000 years except we unfold into area."

So far there aren't any plans to go as soon as 10 years from now. 20 years is a lot more realistic, but we'll see.
