all you really can do is tell her how great she is and hope she finally listens, but people have to learn from their own mistakes, I know thats stupid, but it's true.

Good luck. My friend is in the same situation and time and time again i have tried to tell her she is so much better than that. Sometimes it takes something drastic for them to realize that they need to get out of that relationship. Some people just think that they can't do any better. Maybe you could try to introduce her to someone else and maybe she will see that someone else can treat her better. They might fall in love and she may forget about this other guy.

First of all, you're to be congratulated for trying to "be there" for your friend. I know what's it's like to see someone you care about being treated badly by someone else, but,if she's open and realises that anything you say,you say from a place of love and concern, then that's all you can do until she wakes up and realizes that the jerk isn't worthy of her(hopefully sooner rather than later)but,in the meantime, just do what you've been doing, without judgement(Gods know she'gets enough of that from that louse she picked up)

Ahh it sucks doesnt it! I am in that same boat! I really like my best friend but her babies father treats her like crap and she deserves better than that, but she doesnt think she does. That is the problem she wont leave him unless she is set on leaving him. She will love him and the only thing you can do is just be there for her! Let her know you care and you always have her back and she will realize that there is more out there for her someday!

Try to spend more time with her, as a friend. doing things she likes to do. Things that don't involve guys. Make it a girls day out. Have a night out or a pampering. , You just need to make sure your friend knows you are available for her to talk to or cry with . If she does need to talk about it first then, Have her write out why she likes him what good she sees in him so you know, then you write out what you see in him ( in a pros and cons list ) Then compare them.
God has blessing for her. and none of them invovle a mean or abusive relationship . Whether, physical, mental or emotional they can all destroy self esteem. I'm sure she could find herself happier if she was in a solid real and committed relationship.
Point our the beauty in her and what others see looking at her. Often we see ourselves differently than what others looking at us see.
By doing these kind of things you'll be letting her know that her value is more important than any guys she'll meet.

Maybe you should suggest she gets rid of the boyfriend, okay maybe she loves him but he is the main reason that she is depressed. SO get rid of the boyfriend
Maybe you should take her for a makeover or something
Also get her out and meeting new friends and new boyfriends shell be more happy in no time

Your friend needs to experience this by herself, I'm not implying that you dessert her instead comfort her in her time of need but don't solve her problem. It's not your problem. Yes, it sounds harsh but that's reality.
Moving on, you need to talk to her and say that, "Ok, so the situation is that the feeling between you and ____ isn't mutual, but you need to change your love for him to something more suitable. If you want him in your life you will need to accept being just friends. I love you, as a friend, as i can help you to an extent, but i will be here if you need._______"

As a friend, there is only so much you can do in this case. I'm sure you've already told her that he doesn't deserve her and that she can do much better, but until she believes it, she will stay with this jerk. Just always be pleasant around her, and encourage her to start thinking about herself more in this so called relationship.

Tell her she deserves better. Say something now and don't let a jerk like that keep on treating a good person that way.
