McGuire, Sosa, Bonds, Clemens, Pettit, etc. etc. etc. Either we can let this destroy our image of heroes of the game, or choose another path. I say let the past be the past, and go from here. I know that the records are tarnished, but people are just going to appreciate Ruth, Maris, Gehrig, Cy Young etc. that much more. I think the best thing to do is to start afresh. Let's have stringent frequent testing, but, again, let the past be the past, because I have a feeling that the players named in this report are far from a comprehensive list.

What do others think?

I agree... although I'm worried about Nolan Ryan...

The report has players dating back to when he pitched... and he was on a team with Jose Canseco, Kevin Brown, Ivan Rodriguez, and several others who were implicated.

I am sympathetic to the idea that not everyone was caught. But it is like any system of law enforcement. You cannot catch everyone, but that doesn't mean you take the people you catch and just let them go.

Therefore, starting fresh to me means:
1. Every single one of them is immediately kicked out of baseball, forever.
2. Every single one of them has their entire record stricken from the official MLB books.

It should be as though they never played. They are scum. They helped destroy the very game that gave them their careers.

Somebody said Nolan Ryan. God. I hope it is not ever found that he did this. Of all the players so far named, all the famous ones are total arrogant turds anyway. So steroids or not, I have little sympathy for them. But Nolan Ryan has been the very epitome of a baseball hero - tough, honest, never seen fighting, in any trouble, or acting cockey. He was a great great player both on and off the field. If it turns out he did this, he has to be punished like anybody else. But I'd be truly saddened and surprised if he did.

maybe.. but they continually strike when they feel they aren't being taken care of well enough.

yet when they play, they use drugs for an added advantage over other, more 'pure' players?

how can our country expect to be taken seriously if we don't have any honor in our sports?

these guys cheated and they should be removed from the game permanently just like pete rose was for... gambling?

he earned his records.. and he'll never see his name in coopertown because he bet money. these guys shot up, took pills, everything we tell our children not to.

ill never watch baseball again - the greedy babies robbed me of that pasttime.

I have to agree with you. I have said all along that the baseball fan is well equipped to sort all of this out for themselves.
