If there is reciprocity for my love given to him, whom I'd love, yes, absolutely!
If less, No, I'd walk out the door. For waiting for someone to know you, or appreciate who you are, what is being given, is accepting less than YOUR LOVE deserves, and such deficit accumulates to cause heart-ache.
If the other is giving more, and I do not pay it justice, then I would wish that I were told as early as possible, so that I may be made cognizant of needed corrections.
Unfortunately, we all become in some way complaisant, and are viable to lose it all.
Must take decades of daily practice to arrive at the necessity of give and take from the feeling of love.
Either Use it,
Or Lose it!
As it should be!
