To answer your question before I get to the "serious and educative" part - Africa is not the worst place on this planet.
Poverty exists in the United States of America - is this reason enough to call it "the worst place in the world?" While China's poverty level of 10% may seem low - in reality 10% of 1.3 billion is 130 million.
The people of Afghanistan (and more than a few foreign "observers or advisors") have been fighting one war or another steadily for the last 30 years in Afghanistan. Does this make it better or worse than all African countries?
Starvation has occurred in Russia in the 1930s and China in the 1950s. What makes starvation in Africa worse than starvation in those two countries?
Diseases flourish all over the world, and while some countries in Africa suffer severely from high levels of AIDS, other countries still suffer from Malaria and Dengue Fever.
European countries (Germany & the Soviet Union) plundered other European countries, and Japan plundered many Asian countries before, during, and after the Second World War - this by no means is limited to Western nations.
Cambodia's government has only stabilised in the last few years, as have some African countries. Laos and Vietnam have one-party Communist governments - while some African countries have shown improvements with multi-party democracies. While South Africa has many problems with crime and its economy - it too has a sovereign, democratically-elected government, no war, and is certainly a lot better than North Korea.

Africa is continuously pillaged today by Americans for coffee, diamonds, oil etc. There are many African countries that are thriving i.e. South Africa, because they kicked out Americans. Americans are happy getting things cheaply, even if it was acquired through slave labor, which is ruining their countries. There are many sovereign governments in Africa, some are oppressive, some aren't. North Korea is run by an insane dictator. North Koreans are, on average, 5 inches shorter than their South Korean counterparts because of the malnutrition. Once America gets their sorry arses out of Africa, then maybe we'll see some growth.

I can safely say that the reason is man's inhumanity to man.
Africa, the continent, is truly the richest of all of the continents - in natural resources, however, the powers-that-be find it in their personal interest to grab and hoard all of it for themselves. The masses are not permitted to enjoy the wealth of the land as they ought. By right, it belongs to all of the people.
Another reason is the religious climate. In Sudan and Somalia, religion plays a big role in eliminating those who happen to believe differently from the Muslims. Christians are murdered carte-blanche, mothers and daughters raped and children enslaved. They are not seen as human beings though they all look alike. They breathe the same air, eat in the same way - wherever possible to scrounge a meal, their bodies function the same yet, they are not seen as the same. When we sow to the wind, we reap the wind.
In the time of the slave trade, it was African people who bargained with the slave-traders to snatch and cart away their very own villagers and those from other villages, for a few trinkets. If you did not meet with their approval for whatever the reason, or the price was right, bingo!
Man always has been man's worst enemy.

I would say none of the above. Africa is not a "country" and the Boers were in a very small area in Africa. Lots of cultural and political reasons for Africa's problems. Yahoo answers is not the place for asking such a question, unless you are only looking for yahoo's and their answers.

that is sweet to take heed to. Now in line with probability those wealthy African states will help out their neighbouring kith and family contributors and we interior the west won't must be morally blackmailed via being compelled to view pictures of sick and loss of life infants observed via yet extra appeals for funds. Why would not oil wealthy Nigeria and the different extra wealthy African states take duty for their pathetically inadequate black brothers?

The western world is only rich because the rest are poor.
20% world have 80% of the wealth while 80% of the world have 20% of the wealth.
THE REASON WHY AFRICA IS POOR IS HERE:
The number one reason is slavery. No other continent has seen the most invasion removal robbing and enslaving of its people. Between 650 - 1900 40,000,000 people were abducted or sold into slavery (Arab & Atlantic slavery. So for more than a mellenium Africa has been subject to its people being taken from their communities. In the Atlantic trade europeans bought goodS (Weapons jewlerry alcahol) into Africa in return for either gold or slaves!!! This started the GREED which still lives today. Cheifs and Kings would intentionally have wars in order to capture people and sell them off as slaves while there were also groups who would go into villages and abduct people to earn some money. This lead to many communitys moving to remote places in order to hide this was making Africa go backwards. Africa became a divided war torn and not a nice place to live for may centuries people lived in fear so progression wasnt even a thught to thoose people it was more survival. The removal of many young strong men which were needed for slavery caused major effects on Africa. This stopped the industrial revolution from occuring so you can understand why Africa is behind today. Also the population suffered as 40,000,000 were enslaved while other continents populations increased with their economy, industrial capabilities especially America (Due to the free labour of African slaves) on the other hand Africas populaion didnt grow and its economy demised. After slavery Europeans came into Africa and colonised as Africa was very divied and weak due to the many wars and fleeing communities along with a loss of many men. They ignorantly put together different tribes and peoples into man made country made by the Europeans as well as stealing many of Africas resoures in order to make major profit. So America and the Arab were enjong a good economy from free labour (African slaves) and Europe were enjoying the profits of slavery while their new source of profit was through stealin resourses from Africa which they basicly took over. After the western world became as rich as they could slavery was abolished and gradually Africa became independant but the damage has been done too the point its irreversible. Today in the European made countries of Africa these put together tribes are fighting for power while the government are the modern day version of the cheif and kings of the slavery times who are buying weapons for wars and are in greed something Europeans embeded in the culture of Africans. Like they say what goes around comes around today in every rich country white county there are many problems and i would think the western world has been cursed to be greedy for ever untill they kill off eacother. NAME ME ANOTHER CONTINENT WHICH UNDERWENT ALL THAT FOR AS LONG AS THAT. Africa is the strongest.

First of all, Africa was not the birthplace of civilization.
Secondly, the Asian countries you listed are in no way good places to be and are just as dangerous as Africa.
Third, some countries in Africa are doing very well and are developing on par with the rest of the world.
Lastly, Africa is a harsh place to live and therefore those who live there must focus more on survival and less on luxury which stunts their ability to develop.

The black people have been persecuted by the Boors, the Germans, The English American colonists, for slavery. They were unwilling subjects of medical experiments, by Jonas Salk and you may have heard of the Tuskegee Experiment. Constant threats of wars which nobody seems to care enough to assist in any part of the world. AIDS from other experiments NOT UNPROTECTED SEX has infested q third of the continent. The legacy of the slave trade exists in the townships of places like Soweto to this day. What Africa needs is a leader Like Shaka Zulu. America and it's misssionaries were the ruination of the peoples of Africa. Some say Africans sold their own people into slavery, thats nonsense to justify genocide. It's like sayiing the Indians helped Columbus bring Venereal disease from Spain. If some people had brains I could claim they were brainwashed
Olus racist rants that will follow

Really...think about it. Just what does Africa have to offer the world as resources? Jungles, deserts, wildlife, Ebola and warlords fighting with the tribe next door. Most of the land is uninhabitable and the Dutch wrapped up the diamond mines ages ago.
Nope.....I think that mosquitoes are their greatest, untapped natural resourse.
