True AI has already been done and is done all the time. Language recognition software, autopilots in airplanes, installation software, even street lights. Its a joke amoung AI programmers that AI really means "almost implemented" because every time the put one out in the market people dont consider it AI anymore. An intelligent robot is one that knows that the shortest path from A to B is a straight line, and things like that. Having the intelligence needed to get a job done.
Now if you mean AH (almost human) then thats another story. The best example of that is in games. A computer opponent in a war game that always does the intelligent thing (going from A to B in a straight line) isnt much of an opponent. To be a challenge it must sometimes flank, sometimes sneak around and attack from the rear, and sometimes do something completely stupid which might work just because you didnt expect something that was so stupid. Its a joke amoung game AI programmers that to turn AI into AH you have to dump some of the Intelligence and add Randoms.
That will be true of all AH projects. In areas of creativity, art, music, etc then we will always be ahead of the machine.

Other answerers have not made the observation that this
question was posted in the philosophy section.
Intelligence comes from consciousness. Artificial intelligence
of machines can never reach the level of human intelligence.
Many questions were asked in the ancient Hindu
texts about the nature of Parama Atama (infinite
soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). In the olden
days, Gurus used to put these questions to
disciples to test their knowledge.
What is the constituent material of Almighty? All
created materials are subject to decay and
annihilation, Almighty is above the influence of
decay and annihilation. He is eternal.
Then is Almighty a void? In terms of material
characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya).
Can this lead to the logic that Almighty is not
there? No. Almighty is there. He is consciousness,
the infinite consciousness. The Atma which is a
finite piece of Almighty, according to Advaita
Vedanta - the personal consciousness. Soul was
created in the likeness of the Infinite Soul.
Since Atma is only a minute piece of Almighty, is
it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is also
eternal.
How can a machine without a soul achieve what a
soul is capable of?

authentic AI has already been carried out and is finished each and all the time. Language attractiveness utility, autopilots in airplanes, setting up utility, automatic factories, even merchandising machines have AI programming. Its a comedian tale amoung AI programmers that AI fairly skill "fantastically much carried out" because of the fact each time they positioned one out interior the industry human beings dont evaluate it AI anymore. An sensible robotic is one which knows that the shortest direction from A to B is a immediately line, and issues like that. Having the intelligence had to get a activity carried out. Now in case you advise AH (fantastically much human) then thats yet another tale. the appropriate occasion of that is in video games. a working laptop or laptop opponent in a war sport that often does the sensible factor (going from A to B in a immediately line) isnt lots of an opponent. To be a project it may each so often flank, each so often sneak around and attack from the rear, and each so often do something thoroughly stupid that could artwork in simple terms considering you didnt assume something that became so stupid. Its a comedian tale amoung sport AI programmers that to teach AI into AH you should sell off the fairly some Intelligence and upload Randoms. which would be authentic of all AH projects. In components of creativity, artwork, music, and so on then we can continuously be earlier to the device.

Intreresting way to phrase it. ... "true" and "artificial" juxtaposed. :)
Perhaps a better way to phrase it would be "workable artificial intelligence." Not just a semantics game, it changes the meaning. Then you're left with defining "workable" rather than resolving the logical conflict between "true" and "artificial"
In short, I believe a workable AI solution will be had within the next 25 years. Don't expect Star Trek-like AI; it will be a constantly evolving technology.
