Hmmm... this is an interesting question that has been asked for many years by many great minds. But, the question in this form is just unanswerable--but it is unaswerable in any form right now.
First we must define what intelligence is. We can simply say that intelligence is the computational ability of humans. This may not be the best definition, but it is essential asking, "will computers ever be as smart as humans?"
Even defining intelligence by referencing human brain power doesn't help us very much, because there is so little known about the brain. When you solve a math problem we have no idea what your brain did to get to the solution, thus AI is as much a problem cognitive and nuero science right now as it is for computer science. Assuming we could figure out exactly how the brain thinks, then it is reasonable to believe that we could build a machine to follow this thought process (but this would probably calculate very differently from the computers we have today).
This last approach focused on changing the hardware of computers in order to acheive AI. This is only one approach. Another would be to look at the software and attempt to control the hardware we currently have available. There has been much progress in this area. Look at the video games of today. It is pretty amazing how good the AI of some games is today. Your digital enemy reacts to your each and every move, some games (some of the new football games) even "learn" your style of play and will play differently against you than they will other people. These feats are pretty impressive, but they boil down to little more than storing what you have done in the past and looking up some reaction that they are suppose to make to your action. Really on the basic level it is just manipulating bytes of data or shifting or adding 1's and 0's.
So, now we must ask what artificial intelligence is or what "true" artificial intelligence is. Is there a representation that is significantly large enough to represent every possible thought. We have made computer languages that grow in an attempt to learn, but it has all been to little avail.
I certainly believe that true artificial intelligence is possible, but who knows when or if it will ever be a reality. Perhaps, it is right around the corner and a small breakthrough like a true random number generator will lead us to AI. Or perhaps we are looking at the problem in completely the wrong way and not until we learn what intelligence truly is or the architecture or our computers completely changes will we even have the ability to create true AI.

True AI has already been done and is done all the time. Language recognition software, autopilots in airplanes, installation software, automated factories, even vending machines have AI programming. Its a joke amoung AI programmers that AI really means "almost implemented" because every time they put one out in the market people dont consider it AI anymore. An intelligent robot is one that knows that the shortest path from A to B is a straight line, and things like that. Having the intelligence needed to get a job done.
Now if you mean AH (almost human) then thats another story. The best example of that is in games. A computer opponent in a war game that always does the intelligent thing (going from A to B in a straight line) isnt much of an opponent. To be a challenge it must sometimes flank, sometimes sneak around and attack from the rear, and sometimes do something completely stupid which might work just because you didnt expect something that was so stupid. Its a joke amoung game AI programmers that to turn AI into AH you have to dump some of the Intelligence and add Randoms.
That will be true of all AH projects. In areas of creativity, art, music, etc then we will always be ahead of the machine.

I truly doubt it. I find that the human mind is too unpredictable for it to be replicated. Any AI I've come into contact with uses too much present time knowledge and too little intuition, making it easy to slaughter, destroy and mame. I'm not sure if there is anyone who can get intuition, which is a large part of intelligence, as well as forethought and emotion into the program enough so that AI can be truly equal to human thought processes and intelligence. If they find a way to do that though, I do believe some of those Sci Fi robots take over the world things may just be possible.

different answerers have not made the assertion that this question became published interior the philosophy area. Intelligence comes from information. man made intelligence of machines can in no way attain the point of human intelligence. Many questions have been asked interior the classic Hindu texts touching directly to the character of Parama Atama (countless soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). interior the olden days, experts used to place those questions to disciples to objective their expertise. what's the constituent cloth of Almighty? All created components are concern to decay and annihilation, Almighty is above the impact of degradation and annihilation. he's eternal. Then is Almighty a void? in terms of fabric characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya). Can this convey approximately the best judgment that Almighty isn't there? No. Almighty is there. he's information, the countless information. The Atma that could be a finite piece of Almighty, in accordance to Advaita Vedanta - the very own information. Soul became created interior the likeness of the countless Soul. considering Atma is basically a minute piece of Almighty, is it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is likewise eternal. How can a device without a soul gain what a soul is able to?

yes i think AI will be created and fully operation. but A.I. stands for artificial intelligence therefore there will be no random thought process this means that artificial intelligence would not be able to create and design anything that has not been made before.

It's possible over time that it can happen. But, I seriously hope not. Don't think I'd want a computer sassing me. LOL. Just what I need, a computer with an attitude. LOL
or one that wants to kill me so It would send a missile my way.
